Release Athens is back!

The great festival of Athens is coming to once again beautify our summer nights, with lots of fun, dancing and – above all – great music from some of the biggest names on the world stage.

Last year’s triumphants are back! Thievery Corporation, a group that loves Greece but, as it seems on every visit, is loved by it, will be with us. At Release Athens 2017 they excited over 12,000 people (on a rainy day!) and now they are coming, by… public demand, with even more fun and with a brand new album!

Co-headliners of the evening, the truly great UB40, one of the biggest and most commercial bands in the history of reggae, but also in pop music in general, with their original singer Ali Campbell on vocals, who are returning to our country after many years. If we were to try to list their hits, we would probably have to fill many lines of text, so we will simply recall three of the monumental covers they made, indelibly marking different eras of the 80s and 90s: “Red Red Wine“, “I Got You Babe“, “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You“. Do you need anything else?

Remember, however, the name of the four-member band that will accompany the two huge names of this evening, because the Romanians Golan are a “hidden diamond“ of the European electronica / house scene that will be revealed for the first time in front of the Greek audience.

Angelika Dusk, already known and loved by the eclectic audience of our homeland, will ideally open the evening, having recently released her new album, “Beautiful Mess“, in collaboration with British producer Rupert Christie (U2, Coldplay, Lou Reed).

As always, all of this will take place at Plateia Nerou, a beautiful space next to the sea, with very easy and quick access from every part – and by every means of transport – of Athens.

Το μεγάλο φεστιβάλ της Αθήνας έρχεται για να ομορφύνει και πάλι τις καλοκαιρινές βραδιές μας, με πολύ κέφι, χορό και – πάνω απ’ όλα – υπέροχη μουσική από μερικά από τα μεγαλύτερα ονόματα της παγκόσμιας σκηνής.

Οι περσινοί θριαμβευτές επιστρέφουν! ΟιThievery Corporation, ένα group που λατρεύει την Ελλάδα αλλά, όπως φαίνεται σε κάθε τους επίσκεψη, λατρεύεται και από αυτήν, θα είναι μαζί μας. Στο Release Athens 2017 ξεσήκωσαν πάνω από 12.000 κόσμο (σε μία βροχερή ημέρα!) και τώρα έρχονται, by… public demand, με ακόμα περισσότερο κέφι και με ένα ολοκαίνουριο album!

Co-headliners της βραδιάς, οι πραγματικά σπουδαίοι UB40, ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα και εμπορικότερα συγκροτήματα στην ιστορία της reggae, αλλά και συνολικά της pop μουσικής, με τον αυθεντικό τραγουδιστή τους Ali Campbell στα φωνητικά, οι οποίοι επιστρέφουν μετά από πολλά χρόνια στα μέρη μας. Αν προσπαθούσαμε να απαριθμήσουμε τις επιτυχίες τους μάλλον θα έπρεπε να γεμίσουμε πολλές γραμμές κειμένου, οπότε απλά θα υπενθυμίσουμε τρεις από τις μνημειώδεις διασκευές που έκαναν, σημαδεύοντας ανεξίτηλα διαφορετικές εποχές των 80s και των 90s: “Red Red Wine“, “I Got You Babe“, “(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You“. Χρειάζεστε κάτι άλλο;

Θυμηθείτε, όμως, και το όνομα της τετραμελούς μπάντας που θα συνοδέψει τα δύο τεράστια ονόματα αυτής της βραδιάς, γιατί οι Ρουμάνοι Golan είναι ένα “κρυμμένο διαμάντι“ της Ευρωπαϊκής electronica / house σκηνής που θα αποκαλυφθεί για πρώτη φορά μπροστά στο ελληνικό κοινό.

Η Angelika Dusk, ήδη γνωστή και αγαπημένη στο εκλεκτικό κοινό της πατρίδας μας, θα ανοίξει ιδανικά τη βραδιά, έχοντας κυκλοφορήσει πριν λίγο καιρό το νέο της album, “Beautiful Mess”, σε συνεργασία με τον Βρετανό παραγωγό Rupert Christie (U2, Coldplay, Lou Reed).
