Bullhead City – 16-18 September 2021 – Wacken, DE [CANCELLED]
Dear Metalheads,
it is hard for us to deliver you these news about Bullhead City, but we had to realize: Given the current developments of the pandemic, we will not be able to present you with a festival experience as we envision and as you deserve after such a long wait. Therefore, there will be no Bullhead City 2021.
After weeks of intensive preparations, our hearts are bleeding, because we also want to experience metal live together with you again and celebrate wildly. But even more important to us is that the safety of all participants, including the people of the Steinburg district, is guaranteed without compromise. For this purpose, we have been working intensively with the local authorities over the past weeks. In view of the current and expected developments, a rollicking festival is inconceivable due to the high standard of the measures that have to be taken, which include, among other things, a mask requirement in almost all areas of the festival. We come to this conclusion together with the district administration, which fought at our side for Bullhead City until the end and examined all possibilities.
You can believe us that we are really sad to not be able to celebrate a reunion with you in September. Nevertheless, we consider this decision to be the right one and we count on your understanding. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you once again. We consider the trust that thousands of you have placed in us as an unimaginable honor and not to be taken for granted. Therefore, we will begin to transfer your money for tickets and additional options back to you in full as soon as possible. In addition, we would like to offer all ticket holders some additional consolation and are currently checking what options we have.
As you can see, today is not a nice day for us. But we won’t let it get us down and we will celebrate metal live with you again as soon as possible – the way we all know and love. At the latest at the W:O:A 2022 there will be a reunion that is more than worth it!

Metal is coming home!
Dear Metalheads,
finally, after two long years, the time has come: Metal is coming home! This September already, more precisely September 16th, 17th and 18th, Bullhead City Festival will take place in Wacken for the first time!
Several stages led by the newly-designed main stage on the Bullhead City Plaza offer enough space for a high-quality program full of Wacken fan favorites, which we expect to be massive. After all, everyone – like, you and the musicians are starved for live music.
It is an honor for us to announce the first bands for this metal family gathering:
With Nightwish one of the biggest bands of the scene finally returns to the stage! Not only will we see the live premiere of songs from the current album “Human. II: Nature.”, also the new bass player Jukka Koskinen will be celebrating his German debut. We are very happy to provide the appropriate setting for this.
Everyone, please oil up your vocal chords and get your necks warmed up! For Blind Guardian will grab the bullhead by the horns and force it down with a greatest hits program until the last one joins in singing loudly. See you in “Valhalla”!
The Wacken Wolf Pack is howling with excitement: Once again Powerwolf are inviting to the Metal Mass! They will bring their new album “Call Of The Wild“ with them, these songs will celebrated live for the very first time. Blessed are the metalheads!
We got the clergy now it is time for royality. Hence, raise your horns for Doro, the one and only Metal Queen! Her Wacken shows have always been something special, whether on the big stage or the small Metal Church – this time will be no different.
Saltatio Mortis can’t wait to hit the stages again, as well. Because finally their latest number one album “Für immer frei” can be properly celebrated – the accumulated energy will be discharged in the sign of the Bullhead.
No less we are looking forward to brutal hardcore and action in the pit from Nasty, intense black metal from legendary singer Gaahl and his band Gaahls Wyrd. Fans of Death Metal should enjoy neckbreakers coming from Endseeker and we were able to sign one of the most interesting domestic newcomers with Slope. The final band in this first announcement are Burning Witches with their 80s-styled heavy metal.
The general conditions:
This summer will be great, but it won’t be completely normal again and for this reason Bullhead City will also have some special characteristics.
The capacity will be limited and coordinated with the authorities. This also applies to camping/accommodation on site, which is why not all fans will be able to take advantage of this option. Therefore we will offer 1-day tickets as well as 3-day tickets.
We will watch the further developments closely and adjust our hygiene concept according to the requirements for the given time in order to have a safe festival experience for everyone involved. More information on this will follow in due time.
Ticket sales:
We are planning to start the pre-sale at the end of June/beginning of July and will of course keep you informed – but mark September 16-18 in your calendars already!

nach zwei langen Jahren ist es endlich an der Zeit: Metal is coming home! Bereits diesen September, genauer gesagt am 16.09., 17.09. und 18.09. findet in Wacken zum ersten Mal Bullhead City statt!
Auf mehreren Bühnen angeführt von der eigens konzipierten Hauptbühne auf der Bullhead City Plaza erwartet euch an diesen drei jeweils eigenständigen Festivaltagen ein hochwertiges Programm voller Wacken-Publikumslieblinge, von dem wir uns gewaltiges erhoffen. Schließlich sind alle – wie, ihr und die Musiker*innen ausgehungert nach Livemusik.
Es ist uns eine Ehre, die ersten Bands für dieses Metal-Familientreffen ankündigen zu dürfen:
Mit Nightwish kehrt eine der größten Bands der Szene endlich auf die Bühne zurück! Was dem Klerus recht, ist dem Adel billig. Deswegen hoch die Hörner für die einzig wahre Metal-Queen Doro! Ihre Wacken-Shows waren immer etwas ganz besonderes, egal ob auf der großen Bühne oder der kleinen Metal Church – das wird auch dieses Mal nicht anders sein.
Heiß wie siedendes Pech auf Livemusik sind definitiv auch Saltatio Mortis. Denn endlich kann ihr letztes Nummer Eins-Album „Für immer frei“ gebührend zelebriert werden – die aufgestaute Energie wird sich im Zeichen des Bullheads entladen.
Nicht minder freuen wir uns bei Nasty auf brachialen Hardcore und Action im Pit, intensiven Black Metal von Szelenegende Gaahl und seiner Band Gaahls Wyrd. Die Death Metal-Fraktion wird sich an den Nackenbrechern von Endseeker erfreuen und mit Slope konnten wir einen der interessantesten heimischen Newcomer verpflichten. Den Abschluss der ersten Band-Ankündigung bilden Burning Witches mit ihrem an den Achtzigern geschulten Heavy Metal.
Die Rahmenbedingungen:
Der Sommer wird gut, ganz normal wird er aber noch nicht wieder und aus diesem Grund wird auch Bullhead City einige Besonderheiten aufweisen.
Die Kapazität wird begrenzt und mit den Behörden abgestimmt sein. Das gilt auch für Camping/Übernachtung vor Ort , weshalb nicht alle Fans diese Option wahrnehmen werden können. Deswegen werden wir neben 3-Tagestickets auch 1-Tagestickets anbieten.
Darüber hinaus werden wir die Entwicklung natürlich weiterhin beobachten und das Hygienekonzept den dann geltenden Anforderungen anpassen, um allen Teilnehmern*innen ein sicheres Live-Erlebnis zu ermöglichen. Weitere Details hierzu folgen zu gegebener Zeit.
Der Ticketverkauf:
Wir planen Ende Juni/Anfang Juli mit dem Vorverkauf beginnen können und halten euch hierzu natürlich auf dem Laufenden – markiert euch den 16. bis 18. September aber schon jetzt fett im Kalender!
