Dear friends of release Athens.
After the Prime Minister’s address, on 28.4, and the clarifications of the responsible administrative and health services, all our hope for the release Athens 2020, even in part, has been lost.
We have worked very hard for a whole year, and we have tried to exhaust whatever chances we had in the face of an unprecedented world-scale situation.
Both we and all the artists, with whom we are in constant communication, want to express our deep regret for this unpleasant development. However, the safety of all of us – contributors, employees, partners – was, is and will remain our top priority, above anything else.
We are now going directly to the next day’s planning. The wish of all artists who would take part in the festival this year, as well as ours, is to participate in the release Athens 2021 by, with the addition of many more, a really great line-up that will excite every music.
We will need some time to balance the appearances of so many names, always in relation to their obligations around the world, but we will succeed, promising that the result will pay you to the fullest.
We will be back soon with more clarifications. Until then, stay safe and optimistic, you and your loved ones.

Release Athens 2020 welcomes the legendary Mercyful Fate , on Saturday June 13th, at Water Square! Pioneers of pure and true metal , as impressive as their few contemporaries, with the unique King Diamond in the lead role, returning after decades of absence, giving us the honor of choosing Release Athens as one of the few stations on their long-awaited reunion tour .
Their composition, as a whole, includes names that need no further composition: King Diamond (voice), Hank Shermann (guitar), Bjarne T. Holm (drums), Mike Wead (guitar) and Joey Vera (bass).
King Diamond’s unmistakable vocal range, dramatic lyrics with an obsession with everything satanic and occult, created a legion of loyal followers who saw a controversial and permanently provocative attitude towards the conservatism of the era.
As “The King” states, the setlist will include songs from the first historical EP and the classic “Melissa” and “Don’t Break The Oath”, along with new songs, in a new impressive setting that will excite all fans. .
Mercyful Fate has been the “A and Z” in the second wave of Black Metal but also a source of inspiration for names like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer who are constantly mentioned, with utmost respect, as their favorite band!
Get ready for a setlist of hymns like “The Oath”, “Satan’s Fall”, “A Corpse Without Soul”, “Into the Coven”, “Evil”, “Gypsy” and “Nightmare”, among many others! A concert “protection” of thousands of metalheads and a repulsed years are finally becoming a reality. The sabbath comes to you, Greece!

In 2020, Release Athens sends the message “Release The Earth From Plastic” to all music lovers . Biodegradable / recyclable materials and alternative sources of energy will be used throughout the festival day – and wherever possible . The ticket you receive when buying a package is not an entry ticket to the respective concerts and will have to be redeemed with a daily ticket as follows:

Step 2 : You will receive instructions in your email to download COMBO TICKET in pdf

Το Release Athens 2020 υποδέχεται τους θρυλικούς Μercyful Fate, το Σάββατο 13 Ιουνίου, στην Πλατεία Νερού! Πρωτοπόροι του αγνού και αληθινού metal, επιδραστικοί όσο ελάχιστοι σύγχρονοί τους, με τον μοναδικό King Diamond σε πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο, επιστρέφουν μετά από δεκαετίες απουσίας, κάνοντάς μας την τιμή να επιλέξουν το Release Athens ως έναν από τους λιγοστούς σταθμούς του το πολυαναμενόμενου reunion tour τους.
Η σύνθεσή τους, συνολικά, περιλαμβάνει ονόματα που δεν χρειάζονται καμία επιπλέον σύσταση: King Diamond (φωνή), Hank Shermann (κιθάρα), Bjarne T. Holm (drums), Mike Wead (κιθάρα) και Joey Vera (μπάσο).

Σε όλες τις ημέρες του φεστιβάλ – και όπου αυτό είναι δυνατό – θα χρησιμοποιηθούν βιοδιασπώμενα / ανακυκλούμενα υλικά και εναλλακτικές πηγές ενέργειας.
