Carpenter Brut, една от водещите групи в synthwave/darksynth ренесанса от последното десетилетие, идва за първи път в България по покана на софийското индъстриъл трио Abysmatic, за да представи чисто новия си албум „Leather Terror“. Французите, които наравно с Kavinsky и Perturbator преобразиха музикалния свят до такава степен, че даже поп величия като The Weekend и Miley Cyrus започнаха да инкорпорират retrowave/outrun звучене и естетика в албумите си, идват с огромна сценична продукция, за да ни пренесат обратно в ретрофутуризма на сай-фай и хорър филмите от 80-те. Това е първото турне на групата от 2018-та година насам, когато превзеха САЩ и Европа с индъстриъл легендите Ministry, a преди това с готик сензацията Ghost, което прави събитието наистина неповторимо за нашите ширини.
На живо Carpenter Brut се състои от трима души – кийбордист на синтезаторите, китарист и барабанист. Както името на бандата предполага, концепцията на французите е вдъхновена от музиката и филмите на митичния хорър и сай-фай режисьор John Carpenter, който дава на света мрачни шедьоври като Halloween, The Thing и Escape From New York. Затова не е изненада, че албумите на Carpenter Brut сами по себе си са замислени като саундтрак на фиктивна слашър поредица, която проследява историята на Bret Halford – сериен убиец и фронтмен на бандата Leather Patrol, който използва турнетата на групата си, за да открие и отмъсти на всички, които са го тормозили в гимназията. Новият албум „Leather Terror“ се явява втората част в трилогията, започната с предишния, „Leather Teeth“, a както знаем втората част в повечето пъти е най-добрата.

Carpenter Brut, one of the leading bands in the synthwave/darksynth revival from the past decade, is coming to Bulgaria for the first time, invited by local industrial trio Abysmatic, to present its brand new album „Leather Terror“. The Frenchmen, who side by side with the likes of Kavinsky and Perturbator changed the music world to such a degree, that even pop giants like The Weekend and Miley Cyrus started incorporating the retrowave/outrun sound and aesthetic in their albums, are coming with a huge stage production, to take us back to the retrofuturism of 80’s sci-fi and horror films. This is the band’s first tour since 2018, when they took over the US and Europe with industrial legends Ministry, and with gothic sensation Ghost before that, which makes this a truly unmissable event for the local area.
When playing live Carpenter Brut is a three-piece, comprised of a keyboard player on the synths, guitarist and live drummer. As the name of the band suggests, the Frenchmen’s concept is inspired by the music and films of mythic horror and sci-fi director John Carpenter, who gave the world such dark masterpieces as Halloween, The Thing and Escape From New York. That’s why it’s no wonder that Carpenter Brut’s albums are conceived as the soundtrack of a fictitious slasher series, which follows the story of Bret Halford – serial killer and frontman of the band Leather Patrol, who uses his group’s tours to seek out revenge on everyone who bullied him in high school. The new album „Leather Terror“ is the second part in a trilogy started with the one before, „Leather Teeth“, and as we all know the second part is usually the best one.
