Birmingham-based British indie rock band Editors is coming to Zorlu PSM Turkcell Stage on the evening of February 5, with the contribution of 100% Müzik!
The band, which has been actively producing in the music market with the names of Pilot, The Pride and Snowfield since 2002, and eventually gained a wide audience worldwide under the name Editors, consists of Tom Smith (vocals, guitar, piano), Russell Leetch (bass guitar, synthesiser, backing). vocals), Ed Lay (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Justin Lockey (lead guitar), Elliott Williams (keys, synthesizers, guitars, and backing vocals), and Benjamin John Power (composer and producer).
Editors released their newest single ‘Karma Climb’ in 2022, a remix made by DJ/producer Jennifer Cardini and producer Damon Jee, in Turkey with the GRGDN music representation, under the [PIAS] label.
All 6 albums of the Editors, entered the UK top 10 list, two of which were number one, and their debut album, The Back Room, was nominated for the Mercury Award. Their most recent tour marked their continuing growth in audiences, featuring their biggest concert ever at the OVO Arena, Wembley, in 2020. The group, which has also achieved many successes outside the UK, has often performed at full capacity concerts in Europe and beyond, as evidenced by the dates of their European Tour below.
Editors have never been a band who do what’s expected. When they emerged in the early 2000s, university friends from Birmingham, they were swept into a wave of indie groups with whom they had little in common beyond playing guitars. Then, after their 2005 Mercury Prize-shortlisted debut The Back Room and 2007 #1 follow-up An End Has A Start, they switched up their sound for synths. That was their first act of bravery, says frontman Tom Smith, and they’ve been taking risks ever since. “We’re quite used to that feeling of scaring our audience with new material,” he says with a smile.
Perhaps the most important addition behind the durability of their success is that they have been able to continuously improve their sound without compromising their vision. And if we take “Heart Attack” as an indicator, it looks like this trend will continue on the new page of their career.
It comes back to this idea of letting the mood take over, of giving in, and getting lost. And it’s going to sound absolutely eviscerating live. It’s a new world, and a new chapter for Editors – as it is for everyone. Time to move your body.
