The favorites of the Greek community Therapy? return to Athens and Gagarin 205 on Saturday, February 10 in a just announced concert shows it will be sold out.
They were at the same venue in 2017 and appeared in Thessaloniki the following year.
Now they are coming with their May album Hard Cold Fire and their presence in Athens will be the big event for the Greek alternative rock metal scene.

The story
While attending a charity concert at Jordanstown Polytechnic in 1988, Andy Cairns spotted Fyfe Ewing drumming in a punk band. The pair later spoke and agreed to meet up for a rehearsal at Fyfe’s home in Larne with Andy playing a little practice amp and Fyfe playing his paintbrush kit. In April 1989, they recorded a four-piece demo cassette (Thirty Seconds of Silence) with Andy playing a bass on loan from Fyfe classmate Michael McKeegan.
When they decided to play live they hired Mc Keegan supporting Decadence Within on August 20, 1989 at their first ever concert.
Four more tracks of demo tape (Meat Abstract) followed. Their sound began to be heavily influenced by artists in the indie rock movement such as The Jesus Lizard, Big Black and The Membranes, as well as by new beat disco bands such as Belgian Erotic Dissidents. [
Their first single was limited to a thousand copies, but the band began their first UK tour with The Beyond, drawing the attention of DJ Jhon Peel. Andy continued to work at the Michelin Tire Factory as the band supported Ride, Ispiral Carpets, Teeneage Fan Club and other groups until they were spotted by Wiiija Records and their first album Babyteeth in July 1991 led to their second -Pleasure Death- and No. 1 in the UK Indie Charts.
The band started touring in the US when the grunge revolution had begun with their leader Nirvana, whom the music guy compared them to. Their fame reached Japan as they conquered Europe and a Mercury Music Prize nomination in just three years.
Today the band has released 15 completed studio albums and has sold over two million albums worldwide not counting the decade, May 2023 Hard Cold Fire.
A lot has happened over the years since the unusual questionnaire conclusion in the name of the band. In early interviews the band said the name was “really deep” and intended to ask the question “do you need healing?”, but in a 1992 interview guitarist Andy Cairns admitted it was a random design while working on the band’s first album sleeve. Working with Letraset transfers, did Cairns not line up the band name correctly and use the icon “? ” to fill the gap on the right. “And then we thought, maybe we can bluff when people start reading it.”

They entertained “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath, and other songs such as “Invisible Sun” by The Police, “Where Eagles Dare” by The Misfits, “Vicar in a Tutu” by Smiths and “Denim Demon” by Turbonegro. Cairns referred to his other favorite bands, Siouxsie and the Banshees for the Juju album, and Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band for the Trout Mask Replica album. HALF GRAMME OF SOMA Bio
Half Gramme of Soma is a rock band formed in early 2011, based in Athens, Greece. Blending heavy rock sound with a wide range of influences, HGoS were introduced to the greek music scenery by their strong live appearances. Οι αγαπημένοι του ελληνικού κοινού Therapy? επιστρέφουν στην Αθήνα και το Gagarin 205 το Σάββατο 10 Φεβρουαρίου σε μια συναυλία που μόλις ανακοινώθηκε δείχνει πως θα είναι sold out.
Ήταν στον ίδιο χώρο το 2017 και εμφανίστηκαν στη Θεσσαλονίκη την επόμενη χρονιά.
Τώρα έρχονται με το άλμπουμ Hard Cold Fire που κυκλοφόρησε τον Μάιο και η παρουσία τους στην Αθήνα θα είναι το μεγάλο γεγονός για την ελληνική alternative rock metal σκηνή.

Τhe story
Ενώ παρακολουθούσε μια φιλανθρωπική συναυλία στο Jordanstown Polytechnic το 1988, ο Andy Cairns παρατήρησε τον Fyfe Ewing να παίζει ντραμς σε μια πανκ μπάντα. Οι δυο τους μίλησαν αργότερα και συμφώνησαν να συναντηθούν για πρόβα στο σπίτι
του Fyfe στο Larne με τον Andy να παίζει έναν μικρό ενισχυτή εξάσκησης και τον Fyfe να παίζει το κιτ του με πινέλα. Τον Απρίλιο του 1989 ηχογράφησαν μια demo κασέτα τεσσάρων κομματιών (Thirty Seconds of Silence) με τον Andy να παίζει ένα μπάσο δανεισμένο από τον συμμαθητή του Fyfe, Michael McKeegan.
Όταν αποφάσισαν να παίξουν ζωντανά προσέλαβαν τον Μc Keegan υποστηρίζοντας τους Decadence Within στις 20 Αυγούστου 1989 στην πρώτη τους συναυλία.
Ακολούθησαν άλλα τέσσερα κομμάτια demo tape (Meat Abstract). Ο ήχος τους άρχισε να επηρεάζεται έντονα από καλλιτέχνες του indie rock κινήματος όπως οι The Jesus Lizard, Big Black και The Membranes, καθώς και από new beat disco συγκροτήματα όπως οι βελγικοί Erotic Dissidents. [
Το πρώτο τους single περιορίστηκε σε χίλια αντίτυπα,αλλά η μπάντα άρχισε την πρώτη περιοδεία της στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο με τους Τhe Beyond τραβώντας την προσοχή του DJ Jhon Peel. O Αndy συνέχισε να δουλεύει στο εργοστάσιο ελαστικών MIchelin ως ελεγκτής ποιότητας καθώς η μπάντα έκανε support στους Ride, Ispiral Carpets, Teeneage Fan Club και άλλα γκρουπ ώσπου τους εντόπισε η εταιρεία Wiiija Records και το πρώτο άλμπουμ Babyteeth τον Ιούλιο του 1991 τους οδήγησε στο δεύτερο -το Pleasure Death- και το Νο1 στα UK Indie Charts.
To συγκρότημα άρχισε περιοδεία στις ΗΠΑ όταν η επανάσταση του grunge είχε αρχίσει με οδηγό τους Nirvana με τους οποίους τους συνέκρινε ο μουσικός τύπος. Η φήμη τους έφτασε ως την Ιαπωνία καθώς κατακτούσαν την Ευρώπη και μια υποψηφιότητα για το Mercury Music Prize μέσα σε μόλις τρία χρόνια.
Σήμερα το συγκρότημα έχει κυκλοφορήσει 15 ολοκληρωμένα στούντιο άλμπουμ και έχει πουλήσει πάνω από δύο εκατομμύρια άλμπουμ παγκοσμίως χωρίς να υπολογίζουμε το δεκατοέκτο, το Μάϊο του 2023 το Hard Cold Fire.
Πολλά έχουν γίνει όλα αυτά τα χρόνια από την ασυνήθιστη κατάληξη ερωτηματικού στο όνομα του συγκροτήματος. Σε πρώιμες συνεντεύξεις το συγκρότημα είπε ότι το όνομα ήταν «πραγματικά βαθύ» και σκόπευε να θέσει το ερώτημα «χρειάζεστε θεραπεία;», αλλά σε μια συνέντευξη του 1992 ο κιθαρίστας Andy Cairns παραδέχτηκε ότι ήταν ένα τυχαίο σχέδιο όταν δούλευε στο πρώτο μανίκι του δίσκου του συγκροτήματος. Δουλεύοντας με τις μεταγραφές του Letraset, ο Cairns δεν ευθυγράμμισε σωστά το όνομα του συγκροτήματος και χρησιμοποίησε το εικονίδιο “?” για να γεμίσει το κενό στα δεξιά. «Και τότε σκεφτήκαμε, ίσως μπορούμε να μπλοφάρουμε όταν οι άνθρωποι αρχίσουν να το διαβάζουν».
