Anneke Van Giersbergen returns to Greece for a series of acoustic live performances!
The versatile, multi-talented and hyperactive Anneke Van Giersbergen, this charismatic performer, with her angelic voice, rare star quality, and endless discography, has not stopped enchanting the planet for 30 years! It was the innocent mid ’90s and more specifically the 1995 album masterpiece Mandylion by alternative prog rockers The Gathering, during which we were introduced to this special artistic case that goes by the name Anneke. And it was such a short time that her voice enchanted you, at the very first listen to the opening “Strange Machines”, that there was no doubt that her future was bright!
Since then, of course, endless water has entered the groove, with 5 more full albums by the Dutch band, with her on vocals, guest appearances on albums by Napalm Death, Moonspell, Within Temptation, Ayreon, Anathema and Amorphis – among others, some collaborative releases with Devin Townsend, the creation of The Gentle Storm and later Vuur, her solo albums (initially as Aqua de Annique and later with her real name) but also many – many concerts all over the world!
Concerts in which you will sometimes catch her with a full band and sometimes in this magical solo acoustic incarnation, which we are lucky enough to have witnessed, several times already in our country! It’s a fact: Our beloved singer, composer and lyricist, the Anneke of our hearts, is returning to Greece for a series of concerts, as part of her tour of the Balkan Peninsula! Prepare yourself for a few nights full of acoustic performances, mellifluous interpretations, nostalgic and uplifting sounds, with material from the entire career of the Dutch performer, from The Gathering to the present day, but also with carefully selected covers, in a setlist that flows beautifully, filling concert venues across Greece, for a decade now!
