Scorpions return to Romania with a spectacular anniversary concert: “Coming Home” on September 11, 2025, at Romexpo

The legendary German band Scorpions returns to Romania in an unmissable concert, part of the international anniversary tour “Coming Home” , dedicated to 60 years of musical activity . The event will take place on September 11, 2025 , at Romexpo Bucharest .

Scorpions is one of the most influential and long-lasting hard rock and heavy metal bands in history, with over 100 million albums sold worldwide. The band was founded in 1965 in Hanover, Germany , by guitarist Rudolf Schenker , and alongside him, Klaus Meine (vocals) became the unmistakable voice of the band. Among the hits that have conquered generations are: Rock You Like a Hurricane, Wind of Change, Still Loving You, Send Me an Angel, No One Like You.

The concert in Bucharest, organized by Marcel Avram (East European Production) and DD East Entertainment, is part of a series of anniversary events that also included a special event in Las Vegas , entitled “Coming Home to Las Vegas 60th Anniversary Residency” at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, a unique show in their hometown of Hanover, Germany alongside Judas Priest , and soon in Romania!

About Scorpions: A 60-year legacy of hard rock and global influence

Formed in 1965 in Hanover, Germany, by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, the Scorpions evolved from Merseybeat influences to one of the world’s most iconic hard rock and heavy metal bands . The addition of Klaus Meine as lead vocalist and Rudolf’s younger brother Michael Schenker on lead guitar in 1970 defined the band’s early identity. Their debut album, Lonesome Crow (1972), marked the beginning of a legendary career.

After Michael Schenker left to form UFO, the Scorpions merged with members of Dawn Road , including guitarist Uli Jon Roth and bassist Francis Buchholz. Although most of the members came from Dawn Road, the band retained the Scorpions name due to its notoriety. This formula released Fly to the Rainbow (1974), followed by In Trance (1975), the beginning of their collaboration with producer Dieter Dierks, and the development of a stronger and more distinct sound.

The late 1970s brought notable albums such as Virgin Killer (1976) and Taken by Force (1977), which increased the band’s popularity, although they also generated controversy due to their bold cover art. After Roth’s departure, Matthias Jabs joined the band, and Lovedrive (1979) consolidated the Scorpions’ successful formula – energetic hard rock songs combined with melodic ballads.

The 1980s were the band’s commercial peak. Albums such as Animal Magnetism (1980), Blackout (1982) and Love at First Sting (1984) – with hits such as “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and “Still Loving You” – propelled the Scorpions into international charts. The live album World Wide Live (1985) captured the energy of their live shows. The band also became a cultural icon, playing iconic concerts, including the Moscow Music Peace Festival in 1989, winning them a large fan base beyond the Iron Curtain.

In 1990, Crazy World included the famous song “Wind of Change,” inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall, transforming the Scorpions into witnesses and messengers of global change. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, the band explored new directions – such as Eye II Eye (1999) or the symphonic collaboration Moment of Glory (2000) – but remained loyal to their fans with powerful albums such as Unbreakable (2004) and Humanity: Hour I (2007).

Although they had announced a farewell tour with Sting in the Tail (2010), the Scorpions continued to tour and record, releasing Return to Forever (2015) and Rock Believer (2022).

Recognized as one of the best-selling rock bands of all time – with over 100 million records sold – the Scorpions have influenced generations of artists, from Metallica to Guns N’ Roses. With accolades such as a star on the Hollywood RockWalk and induction into the Hall of Heavy Metal History, the Scorpions remain true ambassadors of world rock .
