The Metalhead Meeting festival will take place on July 6th and 7th at the Romanian Arena in Bucharest.

The first confirmed headliner is the Finnish melodic metal band, CHILDREN OF BODOM, who returns to Bucharest after 5 years for the 7th edition of the festival. Many other bands will be announced in the coming months.

As you have come to expect in the other 6 editions, Metalhead Meeting will have three high-caliber headliners per day as well as many great bands from abroad and from the country. With a focus on quality concerts, perfect sound and flawless organization, the festival wants to offer an experience to those present at the event and not just simple concerts.

After this date, passes will cost 199 lei until April 19, and will then gradually increase in price. Children of Bodom is one of the best-selling bands in Finland with over 250,000 albums sold in their country alone. They began their activity in 1993 under the name Inearthed, the band’s foundations being laid by Alexi ‘Wildchild’ Laiho and Jaska Raatikainen. They recorded their first demo, ‘Implosion of Heaven’, in the same year. Laiho was only 14 years old. After some time, Alexander Kuoppala joined the band as guitarist and then it was Henkka “Blacksmith“ Seppala’s turn to become the band’s bassist. The keyboards were initially occupied by Jani Pirisjoki, but because he was not very interested, he was soon replaced by Janne ‘Warman’ Wirman, who was a jazz pianist. Later, an artistic connection was formed between Wirman and Laiho that would give birth to the band’s unmistakable style.

When the debut album, Something Wild, came out, the band had signed with one record label, but shortly after they received a better offer from another and in order to sign with it they had to change their name. Thus Inerthed became Children of Bodom. 9 studio albums followed, the first, ‘Something Wild’ released in 1997, when the band members were still teenagers, and the most recent, ‘I Worship Chaos’ released in 2015. “Follow the reaper“, the band’s third studio album, was certified Gold in Finland and even reached the US Billboard 200. Currently, Children of Bodom have almost the same line-up as they released their first album. The band is working on a new album according to Janne Wirman, which is due to be released this year.

Festivalul Metalhead Meeting va avea loc pe 6 si 7 iulie la Arenele Romane din Bucuresti.

Dupa cum v-a obisnuit si in celelalte 6 editii, Metalhead Meeting va avea trei headlineri de calibru pe zi precum si multe trupe faine de peste hotare dar si din tara. Cu un focus setat pe concerte de calitate, un sunet perfect si o organizare fara cusur, festivalul doreste sa ofere o experienta celor prezenti la eveniment si nu doar niste simple concerte.

Children of Bodom este una dintre cele mai bine vandute trupe din Finlanda cu peste 250.000 de albume vandute doar in tara lor. Au inregistrat un prim demo, ‘Implosion of Heaven’ in acelasi an. Laiho avea doar 14 ani. Dupa ceva timp formatiei s-a alaturat Alexander Kuoppala in postura de chitarist iar apoi a urmat randul lui Henkka “Blacksmith’ Seppala sa devina basistul trupei. Clapele au fost in prima faza ocupate de Jani Pirisjoki, dar pentru ca nu prea isi dadea interestul a fost la scurt timp inlocuit de Janne ‘Warman’ Wirman, care era pianist de jazz. Ulterior, intre Wirman si Laiho urma sa se formeze o conexiune artistica ce avea sa dea nastere la stilul inconfundabil al formatiei.

Cand a venit albumul de debut, Something Wild, formatia semnase cu o casa de discuri, insa la scurt timp au primit o oferta mai buna din partea alteia si pentru a putea semna cu aceasta au trebuit sa isi schimbe numele. Asa Inerthed a devenit Children of Bodom. Au urmat 9 albume de studio, primul, ‘Something Wild’ lansat in 1997, pe cand componentii trupei erau inca adolescenti, iar cel mai recent, ‘I Worship Chaos’ lansat in 2015. “Follow the reaper”, al treilea album de studio al trupei, a fost certificat Gold in Finlanda si a ajuns chiar si in US Billboard 200. In momentul de fata Children of Bodom au aproape aceeasi componenta cu care au lansat primul album. Trupa lucreaza la un nou album conform declaratiilor lui Janne Wirman, album ce urmeaza sa fie lansat anul acesta.
