RIVERSIDE
We are in Poland, in the early 00s.
Two musicians who, apart from their name, also share musical tastes, begin to experiment with metal and progressive rock of the 70s.
They are Piotr Kozieradzki (drums) and Piotr Grudziński (guitar). Soon the group is joined by multi-instrumentalist Mariusz Duda.
He is a musician full of ideas, who when he is not imitating the bass lines of Geddy Lee of Rush, sings and plays on the harmonium compositions reminiscent of Genesis and Yes.
The first rehearsals prove to be very successful and thus Riverside is born, with the participation of Jacek Melnicki on keyboards (he will be replaced in 2003 by Michał Łapaj).
In 2004, after appearances in several venues in Warsaw, the quartet releases its debut album, Out Of Myself.
Already from the first track of the album, the twelve-minute The Same River, Riverside introduces themselves in the best possible way.
The clear British influences (Pink Floyd, Marillion), the band’s well-tuned playing and Duda’s evocative interpretation give an interesting ensemble.
The sequel was equally interesting with one flawless album coming after another.
In 2005, Second Life Syndrome was released. In 2007, Rapid Eye Movement and in 2009, Anno Domini High Definition.
Some of these albums reached the top of the Polish charts or were considered by foreign journalists to be among the best prog albums of the decade.
In 2016, after the release of two more albums (Shrine of New Generation Slaves-2013 and Love, Fear and the Time Machine-2015) Riverside are at the most critical turning point in their career.
Grudziński “passes away” suddenly and prematurely due to health problems.
The band loses forever a great musical talent, but above all a very good friend.
Many other bands would have chosen to stop, but not Riverside. Duda takes on the role (and) the main guitarist and creates an album that preserves the memory of his lost friend in the best possible way. This is Wasteland, released in 2018.
Its dystopian, elegiac character, perfectly logical given the circumstances in which it was written, manages to drag the listener into a deeply existential journey without a single possible ending.
With this album in their luggage and even closer together now, Riverside return to our country after six years for a unique performance.

RIVERSIDE
Βρισκόμαστε στην Πολωνία, στις αρχές των 00s.
Δύο μουσικοί που, εκτός από το όνομα, μοιράζονται και τα μουσικά γούστα, ξεκινούν να πειραματίζονται πάνω στην metal και την progressive rock της δεκαετίας του ’70.
Πρόκειται για τον Piotr Kozieradzki (ντραμς) και τον Piotr Grudziński (κιθάρα). Σύντομα στην παρέα εντάσσεται και ο πολυοργανίστας Mariusz Duda.
Πρόκειται για έναν μουσικό γεμάτο ιδέες, που όταν δεν μιμείται τις μπασογραμμές του Geddy Lee των Rush, τραγουδάει και παίζει στο αρμόνιο συνθέσεις που θυμίζουν Genesis και Yes.
Οι πρώτες πρόβες αποδεικνύονται ιδιαίτερα πετυχημένες και κάπως έτσι γεννιούνται οι Riverside, με τη συμμετοχή του Jacek Melnicki στα πλήκτρα (θα αντικατασταθεί το 2003 από τον Michał Łapaj).
Το 2004, μετά από εμφανίσεις σε αρκετά venues της Βαρσοβίας, η τετράδα κυκλοφορεί το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ της, το Out Of Myself.
Ήδη από το πρώτο κομμάτι του δίσκου, το δωδεκάλεπτο The Same River, οι Riverside συστήνονται με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο.
Οι ξεκάθαρες βρετανικές επιρροές (Pink Floyd, Marillion), το καλοκουρδισμένο παίξιμο του συγκροτήματος και η υποβλητική ερμηνεία του Duda χαρίζουν ένα ενδιαφέρον σύνολο.
Η συνέχεια ήταν εξίσου ενδιαφέρουσα με το ένα αψεγάδιαστο άλμπουμ να έρχεται μετά το άλλο.
Το 2005 κυκλοφόρησε το Second Life Syndrome. To 2007 το Rapid Eye Movement και το 2009 το Anno Domini High Definition.
Κάποια από αυτά τα άλμπουμ φτάνουν στην κορυφή των πολωνικών charts ή συγκαταλέγονται από δημοσιογράφους του εξωτερικού στα καλύτερα prog άλμπουμ της δεκαετίας.
To 2016, μετά από την κυκλοφορία δύο ακόμα άλμπουμ (Shrine of New Generation Slaves-2013 και Love, Fear and the Time Machine-2015) οι Riverside βρίσκονται στην πιο κρίσιμη καμπή της πορείας τους.
Ο Grudziński «φεύγει» ξαφνικά και πρόωρα από πρόβλημα υγείας.
Η μπάντα χάνει για πάντα ένα μεγάλο μουσικό ταλέντο, αλλά κυρίως έναν πολύ καλό φίλο.
Πολλές άλλες μπάντες θα επέλεγαν να σταματήσουν, όχι όμως οι Riverside. Ο Duda παίρνει το ρόλο (και) του βασικού κιθαρίστα και δημιουργεί ένα άλμπουμ που διατηρεί τη μνήμη του αδικοχαμένου φίλου του με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο. Πρόκειται για το Wasteland, που κυκλοφόρησε το 2018.
Ο δυστοπικός, ελεγειακός χαρακτήρας του, απόλυτα λογικός δεδομένων των συνθηκών στις οποίες γράφτηκε, καταφέρνει να παρασύρει τον ακροατή σε ένα βαθιά υπαρξιακό ταξίδι χωρίς ένα μόνο πιθανό τέλος.
Με αυτό το άλμπουμ στις αποσκευές τους και ακόμα πιο δεμένοι πλέον, οι Riverside επιστρέφουν μετά από έξι χρόνια στη χώρα μας για μία μοναδική εμφάνιση.
