    (CANCELLED) Roskilde Festival – 26 june – 3 july 2021 – Roskilde, Dennmark

We have finally received an official statement about this summer’s restrictions.
There will be no Roskilde Festival this summer.
The cancellation is very serious for the festival, for our charity society and our community. And it is serious for the artistic environments and the growth segments of culture.
We are devastated by the fact that we can’t get together again and contribute to recreating the communities that the corona crisis has destroyed for so many.
We can hardly imagine how fantastic it will be to reopen the gates to the festival next summer and meet again after such a sad and long absence.
Let us hold on that – together!
If you have a ticket to this year’s festival, you can transfer it to 2022. If you do not want to transfer your ticket, you can get a refund.
It is an invaluable help for us if you choose to keep your ticket by transferring it to 2022. In this way, you help the society behind the festival through a very difficult time.
We will get back to you as soon as possible with the exact circumstances of the transfer and refund.
The need to be together to share live music and art will never ever lose its meaning
We will work extra hard to make room for art, volunteering and new cultural experiences in the time to come.
Thank you for all your support and affection and take good care of each other.

29 music acts and 12 artists from the art and activism programme have been added to the poster for Roskilde Festival in 2021.

If you look ahead, like we do, you will see see light. Somewhere down the road.

We are cautiously optimistic about conducting a festival this summer. That’s why we think it’s appropriate to announce some new music and art now. We want to show that you have something to look forward to.

We can’t yet meet in the large physical community, but together we can hope for a summer that will once again offer overwhelming musical experiences, engaging contemporary art and activism that reflects on the society and everyday life we share.

It’s still the 50th festival we are looking towards. And for this particular programme we have added 29 music acts and 12 art and activism artists.

    Rock-solid rock bands

New Yorker band The Strokes return to the Orange Stage, and the sibling trio HAIM revisits the festival with the album Women in Music Part III from this summer, which attacks the sexism they believe permeates the music industry.

In the harder end of the spectrum, you’ll find the genre deniers in Faith No More, and the alternative metal heroes in Deftones return to the festival outside of the US that first took them in (they remember that fact!).

    Hot hip-hop acts

Megan Thee Stallion has stolen the headlines in recent years. The 25-year-old rapper has collaborated with Beyoncé, and the track “WAP”, which she co-released with Cardi B, is undoubtedly this year’s most talked-about tune. With her brand-new album Good News she underlines the fact that she is one of the most important voices in hip-hop right now. The concert at Roskilde Festival will be her first in Denmark.

The hip-hop-loving crowd can also look forward to two forward-thinking rappers DaBaby and Doja Cat at next year’s Roskilde Festival, and established showman Anderson .Paak is also in the line-up with his backing group The Free Nationals.

    Art for the digital age

This announcement also includes 12 names from the art & activism programme, all of whom make up the festival’s programme in the intimate urban space of Ambereum, which is close to Orange Stage but offers some completely different experiences.

All 12 artists are chosen because they experiment in their own way and challenge traditional distinctions between genres and categories in art. In different ways, they develop the idea that free spaces can arise through dance, music, technology and visual art – often with a commentary on the surrounding society, for instance with special focus on digitization and data.

Centre for Cyber Wellness tackles the concept of data fatigue and offers to clean all festival-goers from the digital cookie trail they leave behind every day. Jacob Remin will send low-voltage electricity (⚡) through people as part of a data detox ritual, and Elly Clarke, in the shape of drag identity #Sergina, sings songs about love, desire and loneliness in the digital age.
